Professor Song Zhang
Associate Professor & SPIE Fellow

Dr. Zhang is an associate professor in mechanical engineering. He received his Ph.D. degrees from Stony Brook University in 2005. His current research focuses on developing superfast, super-resolution 3-D imaging technologies and on exploring their applications. His current research interests include 3-D machine/computer  vision, biophotonic imaging, virtual reality, augment vision, human computer interactions, forensic science, and biomedical engineering.

Yatong An
Ph.D. Candidate (4th year)

Yatong joined the lab for his Ph.D. in 2015. Before that, he received his B.S. in Control Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2013. He also received M.Phil. in Computer Science from the University of Hong Kong in 2015. He is interested in computer vision, 3D reconstruction, machine learning, robotics and control. In his leisure time, he likes hiking and badminton.

Jae-Sang Hyun
Ph.D. Candidate (4th year)

Jae-Sang received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University in 2015. He is in the course of Ph.D. within our group. He had project experiences in robotics, and computer vision system. His interest area is robotics, and optics. He takes the role of making an application to enhance the accuracy and the speed of 3D reconstruction and an embedded system. Jae-Sang spend his leisure time in playing basketball, making robots, and taking pictures.

Michael Crawford
Ph.D. Student (2nd year)

Michael Crawford received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2017. Now, he is pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has past research experience in metallurgy, corrosion, and heat transfer for HVAC applications, diesel engine fuel efficiency and emissions reduction, and pedagogy for ME 274 (dynamics) especially in studying the role of video examples. He is interested in addressing the sensing technology bottleneck in robotics. In his leisure time, he enjoys basketball, tutoring, and participating in robotics competitions such as NASA RMC.

Michael Feller
M.S. Student (Senior)

Michael is a senior in Mechanical Engineering who is currently enrolled in a combined B.S./M.S. program. He joined the lab in 2018 to research in his interest areas including optics, robotics, and controls. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing basketball, watching sports, and spending time with friends from his church.

Brian Acosta
Undergraduate Student (Junior)

Brian is a Junior in Mechanical Engineering who joined the lab in Fall 2018. His research interests include 3D imaging, robotics, controls, and autonomous vehicles. When he’s not at school, Brian enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and hiking.
